Dowdales School

Dowdales has been involved in the Climate Change Explorer project since its inception and we have been privileged to work with our partners at ECN , Helix Arts and Cumbria Arts in Education on a project which has enabled us to bring together Science and the Arts to explore such a vitally important topic for us all. It has been tremendously exciting to see the array of new media work that the pupils have produced working with Scientists and professional artists.

All pupils involved have been enthusiastic about the work but it has been particularly pleasing to see how the creative process has engaged pupils who might otherwise have been disinterested in climate change issues. As a specialist arts college we see evidence of pupils benefiting form creative approaches to work on a daily basis but Climate Change Explorer has been a particularly rich and rewarding experience.
